29 units purchased from 2 Korean brands and 1 Chinese brandElectric buses will be operated on 4 bus line from November 2018Seoul city made a decision for electric city bus brands purchase for this year budget.Seoul city bus union, which association of bus companies on Seoul area, had field test with candidates on 20th ~ 21st of June. After the field test, union selected 3 electric city bus manufacturers: Hyundai, Edison motors and Higer. According to decision, two bus companies will purchase electric city bus from 3 brands which they want and it will be operated from November 2018. Electric city bus will be operated in 4 different bus lines and at least two brands will be operated at the same bus line. Through the running, union will find out which one has more competitiveness with others.Seoul city announced they will adopt more electric city bus from next year and goal is operating at least 3,000 units of electric city bus until 2020.In Korea, government support subsides 100,000USD for the 1 unit of electric city bus. (up to 9M length) Subsides for 2018 was 220 units of electric city bus. Budget for subsides on next year is not decided yet, but estimated it will be increase dramatically. Given that most town shuttle buses or rural area bus companies are not semi-public but private companies, the introduction of electricity buses of excellent economic feasibility in terms of operation expense is expected to be vitalized. 'SMART 9H' allows customers to choose battery capacity between 102kWh and 239kWh as an optional. Considering that in electricity buses battery takes the most part in the car price, bus operation companies are allowed to make reasonable choice depending on route distance or operation purpose. It is scheduled to be launched in September, 2018 and the expected price is about 320 million won. ‘SMART 11H’, 11M grade high floor electric bus, expanding the choice range through battery capacity selection‘SMART 11H’ is also able to choose battery capacity from 102KWh to 283kWh, and the mileage is also differentiated between 145km and 388km. It is scheduled to be launched in September, 2018 and the expected price is 340 million won ~ 3.64 million won. ‘SMART 12D’, 12M grade diesel coach bus focusing on safety‘SMART 12D’, 12M grade diesel coach bus which first introduced by Edison Motors is a product by Kinglong, China's famous bus manufacturer. It adopts Cummins engine (400 hoarse power) and ZF manual 6 stage mission, so satisfies Euro 6 Type C emission, the domestic exhaust standard. For long distance driving, fuel tank capacity is set at 400L. In particular, 3 point seat belt, which was not introduced in domestic bus until present was adopted, and passengers' exit was set to the direction of driver's seat. The number of newly registered medium-size trucks (special purpose commercial vehicles included) of more than 5ℓ(5,000cc) and less than 8ℓ in displacement and loading weight of more than last year is 12,362 units. The market share of domestic brand accounts for the most part at 92% with 7,030 units of Hyundai Motors and 4,285 units of Tata Daewoo commercial vehicle, followed by 552 units of Volvo trucks, 299 units of Man trucks, 144 units of Daimler trucks, and 49 units of Iveco trucks. The market share of import brand is 8%. The market of medium-size trucks which accounted for 100% of the domestic brand market share before 2015 and entered domestic medium truck market through import brands increase the market share since Euro6 environment regulations.
